Does Detector+ replace my smoke or carbon monoxide alarms?

Detector+ does not detect smoke, so keep your existing smoke alarms. It can also be used alongside your existing battery-powered carbon monoxide alarms to add natural-gas monitoring and visible readings.
Will cooking cause a false alarm?
+
Activities near the detector can affect a gas reading. Never assume an alarm is false because you were cooking, and never use a displayed number to decide that the air is safe. Follow the safety instructions whenever an alarm sounds.
How do I check that Detector+ is working?
+
Use the TEST button as directed in the instructions supplied with your unit, and pay attention to any fault indication. Testing the audible warning does not prove that every sensor will detect every hazard, so follow the model’s instructions for maintenance and replacement.
Can I use Detector+ in a rental or RV?
+
It plugs into a compatible wall outlet without permanent installation, which may make it suitable for a rental. RV use should only be stated as supported if the current model’s instructions confirm it. In either setting, keep any alarms required for the property or vehicle.
What should I do if Detector+ alarms or I smell gas?
+
Leave the property and follow local gas emergency instructions. Do not operate electrical switches or use Detector+ to investigate a suspected leak. Contact the gas emergency service from a safe location.

What does the lifetime warranty cover?

Our Lifetime Warranty covers Detector+ for the full five-year rated life of its sensor, starting on the date of delivery. If a fault caused by defective materials, components or workmanship develops during that period, we’ll send you a replacement at no cost. This includes faults with the sensor, display, alarm or TEST button.

Doesn’t my current carbon monoxide alarm already detect natural gas?

A CO-only alarm detects carbon monoxide, not natural gas. Detector+ monitors both gases and shows their readings on its display.
How many Detector+ units do I need, and where should I place them?
+
That depends on your home’s layout, floors and the rooms you want to monitor. One unit should not be assumed to cover an entire property. Choose suitable outlets in your priority rooms and follow the placement instructions supplied with Detector+, as the right position can vary by room and gas.
